About this project

Welcome to Zero, a novel in progress by Andy Cingolani (that’s me, by the way.) Recently, I finished a draft of a novel titled Black & White Photography. This is my second attempt at a novel, and for fun, I thought I’d do it as a blog. You’ll find the posts under the “Chapters” header to the right. Feel free to comment on it; you won’t hurt my feelings. Which is especially true if it turns out that you like it.

A couple of warnings:

  • I’m pretty much doing this because I enjoy it, so if I get busy with other things, I might go a looooong time between posts.
  • The language is a little salty and it may deal with some adult themes. If you’re easily offended by these sorts of things, my writing may not be your cup of tea.

So, that said, enjoy… starting with the first paragraph:

     Pillsbury concentrated hard on not listening to the conversation in the booth behind him. He thumbed through the stack of brochures, hoping to light on one that he hadn’t read yet. “You will eat that fucking bratwurst,” a woman’s voice said. “You will eat every fucking crumb of it.” The voice was childlike in tone, as if it were an affectation. For Brian Pillsbury, this moment was hitting him like a series of infinitesimally small instants that were sharp and shiny, coming at him like photons of acid. Continue reading…
